Name the kind of price first
The list price is the figure published by the maker. A self-pay price is the charge for paying outside insurance.
An insurance charge depends on your plan and the reason for treatment.
On September 26, 2026, the maker's monthly self-pay prices for semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) ranged from $149 to $499 across products and strengths.
Strength is the amount of medicine listed for that product.
That range includes pills and shots, and some shot prices are introductory offers.

Put the extras beside the medicine
Online care can charge a membership separately from the medicine, with a lower first-month offer.
- Does the quoted amount include the medicine?
- Are visits or messages included, or billed separately?
- Are tests, delivery or other charges extra?
- What is the next month's total?
- What are the cancellation and refund terms?

A closer look at the source
An introductory price is not a lasting total
As checked September 26, 2026, the Ozempic injection offer charged $199 per month for only the first two months of medicine. It was for eligible new adult patients paying without insurance.
It applied only to selected strengths and ran through December 31, 2026.
After the offer, strength determined whether each month cost $349 or $499.
These are medicine prices; they do not answer what a care service may charge.
Offers can change, so check the current written terms before relying on a quoted price.

Ask the insurer about the exact use
Ask whether the proposed product is on your plan's formulary, its list of covered medicines.
Ask about prior authorization: permission from the plan before it agrees to pay.
Coverage is not automatic just because a medicine has an approved use.
Medicare's temporary weight-medicine program
The GLP-1 Bridge was Medicare's temporary program as checked September 26, 2026. People who qualify pay $50 for a month's supply of certain weight medicines.
It includes semaglutide sold as Wegovy, as shots or tablets.
GLP-1 is the name of a gut hormone; semaglutide acts like it.
July 1, 2026, is the program's start date; December 31, 2027, is its end date. Its bills are handled separately from your usual Medicare drug plan, called Part D.
Eligibility depends on the plan, health history and other rules.
Ask the prescriber to check if you qualify and arrange the prescription and approval needed for the program.
Ask the prescriber and pharmacy what they need to process the Bridge prescription before expecting the quoted price.
The Bridge excludes people who have the blood-sugar condition called type 2 diabetes. Those prescriptions go through ordinary Medicare drug coverage.
Your usual drug plan sets a yearly limit on payments you make yourself; the $50 Bridge payments do not count towards that limit. The Bridge still charges $50 each month after that limit is reached.
